Epynt Competitors Keep Busy Through Spring Rally Season

Epynt Motor Club members have been out in force across a busy spring period, with crews competing on road rallies, stage rallies and the Epynt ranges between the start of March and the end of May.

The action started early in March on Rali Bro Caron, where Kieran Price was back on the maps alongside Stefan “DR” Davies in the Ford Escort. Unfortunately, their event ended almost before it had begun, with the Escort retiring with driveshaft trouble before the first PC, but it was still another strong show of commitment from one of the club’s regular road rally competitors.

Busy in the lanes …

A couple of weeks later the road rally crews headed north for the Motorsport Tools Merfyn Hughes Memorial Rali Llŷn. Kieran Price [Pictured to the left] enjoyed a strong run with Gareth Edwards, finishing 5th overall and 2nd in class. Ashley Isaac was also in action, navigating for Meredydd Jones to 25th overall.

Road rally action continued later in April with the Night Owl Rally, organised by Aberystwyth & District Motor Club. Ashley Isaac finished 22nd overall and 9th in class, with Roger Lovatt. It was another solid result for both navigators and added to a consistent spring period for the road rally side of the club.

Meanwhile on the stages …

On the stage rally side, Daniel Petrie continued a busy season. He competed on the Dukeries Rally with Alex Kirk-Willey in the Peugeot 306 Maxi, reaching the finish in 62nd overall and 19th in class. Daniel was then back out on the Land & Estate Maintenance AGBO Stages at Weston Park [pictured to the right], where he and Michele Petrie brought the Ford Escort Mk2 home 9th overall. Daniel also appeared on Rally North Wales with Alex Kirk-Willey, although their event ended early, and later headed to the Manx National Rally, again alongside Alex in the Peugeot 306 Maxi.

A Class win for Martin

The Epynt ranges then hosted the Pitstop Garage Pengam Dixies Challenge Rally on 3rd May, where Martin Lasper and Rhys Edwards flew the Epynt flag in the Vauxhall Nova. They finished 32nd overall and took 1st in Class 9, a great result on home ground and a strong addition to Martin’s championship campaign.

Well done to all Epynt Motor Club members who competed, finished, supported, serviced, marshalled or helped crews throughout March, April and May. Keep up to date with our Club Championships and tell us about your rallying or marshalling adventures via email or Facebook.
