The meeting will start at 8pm, followed by a motorsport quiz. All members welcome! Annual General Meeting – 2005On a cold and wet November night, as per normal, Epynt Motor Club Limited annual general meeting took place at Lasswade, Llanwrtyd Wells. Approximately 20 members attended, which is about the average. Club chairman, Michael Hardwick got the meeting started promptly at 20:00hrs. Apologies were noted and the 2004 minutes were read and confirmed. Our current president, Mr John Probert, then gave a report on the years highlights, of which there were many, club chairman gave his report and thanked fellow officers for their help. Alun Probert gave to the meeting the annual accounts, which considering a lot of equipment had been purchased during the year were not looking in too bad a state. Next came the election of officers, the part of the meeting where most members just sit and look out of the window and not catch the eye of anyone else. All jokes aside the election of officers was quite painless, well especially the ones who weren’t nominated for any positions. The following officers were elected: President - Mr John Probert Chairman - Michael Hardwick Vice Chairman - Brian Jones Treasurer - Alun Probert Secretary - Teresa Wood Minute Secretary - Alun Probert Membership Secretary - Mike Kennett Competition Secretary - Brian Jones Awards Officer - Brian Jones Press Officer - Kate Jones Chief Marshal - Mike Kennett Club Promotion - Teresa Wood Newsletter - Kate & Lynne Jones Concern was expressed by many of the current membership fee. After some discussion it was agreed to slightly increase the membership fees to £8.00 (single) £12.00 (joint – husband/wife/partner). It was agreed by all that the membership offered good value (and you get a gold club card – not cardboard). After the formal part of the evening father and daughter duo, Brian and Kate Jones, did a quiz for all to participate. The teams consisted of three, with many team members having varying degrees of knowledge, and some thinking that they knew the lot!!!! After several rounds of car make spotting, television etc. the answer sheets were handed to a different team to mark, all done honestly we hope. After all the answers had been given, and the calculators came out to add up the scores, the winners were Keith, Trina and Alun. The winning prize was a clock, at least this would make sure that some members made the meetings on time!!!! The second place team were ‘a few grey hairs’, in the case of one team member that is a perfect statement. A little mention must go to the team which held the rest of us up from the bottom, and really should have done a lot better considering the YEARS of experience which they had between them, experience in what I don’t know, the team consisted of ……………… oh no I shouldn’t name them, they may be embarrassed ………… but then again do I care ………… the team members were Ian Davis, Hugh James and Roger Stevens ………… there we are, I told you they had years of experience!!!!!!! Many thanks to Brian and Kate for a good quiz. As you can see we do have fun at the AGM – see you next year. |
