On a horrible wet day twelve competitors turned up at Tirabad for the third round of this year’s championship. Considering that there were three big rallies on the same weekend it was a very good entry. When everyone arrived they were surprised to see Morian Peters lying in the mud and pouring rain fitting a new gear box in his Honda. He must be keen or mad?
Fastest on test one was Robert Jones who was sharing his Peugeot with his brother Huw. Unfortunately Huw broke the gearbox on test three and that was the end of the autotest for them, but did Huw break the box because his brother was faster than him?
Test four was the end for John Olley and James Walter with a broken shaft on the Puma causing instant retirement.
Nic Powell was leading after test four but only by four seconds from Ben Davies in the powerful Toyota MR2. With nothing much to demolish Ben was throwing the MR2 around in some style.
Jarod Gibbons turned up in some kind of Mazda car and seems to improve with every event. He was lying in fifth position until he had a wrong test.
Michael Hardwick had borrowed his mums shopping car to find out if he could be a better driver rather than his usual navigating.
Anthony Deans overslept and didn’t have time to fetch his autotest car so he decided to bring his wife’s Cavalier along, brave man.
Sam Davies was first novice finisher in his Peugeot 205, only getting 10 seconds penalty all day.
The honours for first overall was decided between Nic Powell and Morian Peters who were only separated by one second but Morian knocked down a cone on the penultimate test and handed the victory to Nic. This was Nic’s third win in a row this year but the drive of the day went to Morian.

The second round of the Epynt Motor Club navscatter championship was held at the Eagles Inn in Rhayader.
Organisers James and Alvine “Mother” Stuart chose to ignore Ceri’s text earlier in the day stating that all code boards should have a flashing light on top, after he missed one at last years event.
Eight crews entered the event. Plotting was observed by a number of interested onlookers including the local sheriff.
The route took crews down the Dernol Valley, out towards St Harmon, across to Nantmel and Elan Valley before arriving back at the pub.
All of the crews including first timers Gary Glossop and Ian Morris completed the route with in the time provided.
