This bank holiday weekend sees the annual running of the Mewla Rally organsied by Epynt Motor Club who are pleased to welcome Old Forge Garage incorporating Dennis Motor sport as new sponsors.
The event begins on Saturday 23rd August with scrutineering and signing-on from 3pm onwards. This will be held at the Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells, where rally headquarters is based.
Fourteen stages providing over 80 competitive stage miles will be run on the Epynt Ranges on Sunday 24th August. The action will start with the first stage at 8.45am.
The rally is a qualifying round of the REIS MSA Asphalt Rally Championship, Quantum King of Epynt, Steve Harkness Welsh National Tarmacadam Championship, the ANWCC Stage Rally Championship and the Millington RWD Challenge.
A top quality entry has been received, with nearly 100 entries so far. The provisional top ten is as follows:

2. Damian Cole & Elliott Edmondson, Ford Focus WRC
3. Stephen Simpson & Patrick Walsh, Subaru Impreza WRC
4. John Indri & Peter James, Subaru Impreza
5. Simon Mauger & Jonathan Hawkins, Ford Escort MK2

The winning crew of the Road Rally Class on this year's Old Forge Garage Mewla Rally will receive a free entry on the 2014 DG Jones Agri Ltd Powys Lanes Rally. The road rally event, which is also organised by Epynt Motor Club, will be held on November 8/9th.
There will be one main spectator entrance, which must be accessed from the A40 via Llywel to Dixies Corner. From here spectators will be able to access a variety of stages with a choice of viewing points and action. There will be toilet and catering facilities available. There is a second spectator entrance, which can be accessed from the A483 via Llanwrtyd Wells and Tirabad. The use of these spectator areas is strongly recommended by the organising committee for best viewing and to avoid causing obstructions to the running of the event. Please follow all signage and marshals instructions. Please note that there will be no access onto the Epynt Ranges via Sennybridge and the surrounding villages due to PR problems. Spectators will not be allowed into FIBUA (The German Village) by order of the military.
Spectator programmes, which include stage maps and viewing point locations, will be sold for £10 per car. Money raised will be donated to Breast Cancer Care and other local charities. Money raised from spectator donations on last year’s Mewla has been donated to Wales Air Ambulance, Breast Cancer Wales and Ysgol Dolafon, Llanwrtyd Wells.
The seeded entry list can be downloaded here and the time schedule and map here
The event will finish at approximately 4.30pm at the Royal Welsh Showground where the awards presentation and champagne celebrations will be held.

Last night club members Brian and Lynne Jones organised the annual car treasure hunt on behalf of Llanwrtyd Festival committee. Eighteen cars entered. The route went from Llanwrtyd around Cynghordy towards Rhandimwyn and past under the viaduct. There was then a loop around Tirabad and Cefn Gorwedd finally finishing in the Belle Vue Hotel. There were 60 clues to find and the winning car got 54 correct. The winning car was car 18, occupied by Alun Probert, Julie Ralph, Emma Hardwick and Callum Morris with a score of 108/120. In second place was last years winners Delyth, Dewi and Sam and in third place was Kate, Caryl, Hayley and James. We raised £135 which will be donated to the festival committee.
